A little stiff, but no hunger pangs so since I am feeling so great I am going to break the fast....right now.

green juice with dino kale, romaine, lemon, ginger juice - instead of straining out the sedement I left it in my juice.

grapefruit, orange, lime and cranberry juice I blended in the cranberries and a little of the orange pulp to add a little more fiber.

Later today I will have a whole juice smoothie with black cherries, broccoli, apples, and spinach and when all of this mashed-up-fiber gets my digestive juices pumping again I will eat some cantaloup and grapes. I also have some veggie stock and miso paste that I might add if I am craving more. So that's my plan for today. We'll see how it goes. I have read that one of the most difficult parts of a fast is breaking it.

I really needed this fast and I am proud of myself. It's been a tough couple of months for me and I wasn't taking care of myself. Even though I am still disappointed with some things that happened in my life this year, I know that there is still a lot to look forward to. I think this fast gave me some spiritual and emotional clarity and calmness.

Technically this fast will last another 6 days as I reintegrate more complex foods into my diet. I'll keep you posted on the progress.jennifer annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08102585421756557758noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633966624416853521.post-49873304247205046862011-08-01T21:17:00.000-07:002011-08-01T21:17:01.082-07:00Juice Fast (feast) day 3Today was good except that my entire body felt sore like I'd spent the entire day before working out. I was lucky enough to get a last minute massage appointment this evening and that helped a little bit with the soreness although I am nervous that the massage will end up making tomorrow difficult. I came home and drank a half gallon of distilled water, hopefully that will dilute and flush out all the additional toxins that massage realeses. We will see.
So long as I am feeling good tomorrow morning I will break the fast. If I am not feeling well, I will carry on with the fast until I feel better and than I will end it.

So Today...
green juice with curly kale, romaine, ginger, lemon, chinese spinach and stevia

beet, garlic, lime, cucumber, jalapeno, onion, carrot, tomato juice

Black cherry, strawberry and raspberry juice

beet, carrot, apple, spinach juice

another green juice before bed

and massive amounts of water.

Massage was great at http://www.ineedbodyrepair.com/jennifer annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08102585421756557758noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633966624416853521.post-34044716641079754422011-07-31T20:09:00.000-07:002011-07-31T20:09:28.776-07:00juice fast (feast) day 2I woke up a little sore this morning and I noticed several times in the day that I was a little lightheaded but all in all I would say that it was a great second day of fasting. I made a green juice in the morning, went to church and then over to visit my friend Kate Rose and then I spent the rest of the day laying around the house reading and watching Mad Men.

Here's what I had today:

16 ounces distilled water

24 ounces of green juice with collards, romaine, lemon, ginger and stevia

16 ounces of tomato, garlic, carrot, beet, cucumber, basil, onion and jalapeno (just a smidge) juice

8 ounces raspberry juice with stevia

16 ounces grapefruit, orange, lime and cranberry juice with 2 packets of stevia and it was still VERY tart

8 ounces of green juice with celery, cucumber, dino kale, granny smith, ginger and lemon

I read today that perhaps I shouldn't be taking in so much fruit juice, especially those from very acidic fruits like tomatos and citrus so I'm going to try and cut back on those for the duration of the fast.

I felt a little hunger pang for the first time this evening as I wrote this blog so I went and had some of the black cherry and strawberry sun tea that I made. WOW! I muddled strawberries and black cherries in a mason jar and then covered them in distilled water and set out in the sunshine all day. Oh dog, it was excellent! I think I might just have a little more before bed. Good night.
jennifer annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08102585421756557758noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633966624416853521.post-35425934195355221112011-07-30T19:30:00.000-07:002011-07-30T19:30:51.467-07:00juice fast (feast) day 116 ounces of distilled water

Orange, carrot, ginger apple juice

Grape, Cucumber, Romaine, kale, apple juice

beet, carrot, spinach, apple, ginger juice

raspberry juice (raspberries soaked in distilled water and then strained out) with a touch of stevia to make it less sour

Tomato, garlic, onion, jalapeno, romaine, celery juice

Peppermint Tea with Stevia

a cup of distilled water.

Yesterday was pre-fast prep. I ate all veggies and fruit, all raw except for I had a cooked sweet potato and jalapeno for dinner.

Today was very calm. It started off a little on the wrong foot, but once I was aware of my attitude I made a decision to change it. I went to the farmers market to get fasting supplies and started the first day of my juice fast. Tomorrow will be more difficult.jennifer annehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08102585421756557758noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6633966624416853521.post-87720167195643285312011-01-03T20:40:00.000-08:002011-01-03T20:40:00.271-08:00New Years Resolutions...

Mixed Green Salad with Avocado, Canned Salsa, green peppers, black olives, red onions

Mixed Green Salad with Feta, pickled peppers,, grape tomato, greek seasonings, cucumber and red onion

Swiss Eggs from the cookbook that Francie gave me for Christmas (see copied recipe below)

Swiss Eggs
6 eggs
butter
thin slices Swiss cheese
1 little green onion ,chopped
1 tbsp. chopped parsley
salt
freshly ground pepper
1 cup of cream
1/2 cup dry white wine

Method
Generously butter the bottom and sides of a shallow fireproof baking dish. Line the sides and bottom with slices of swiss cheese not over 1/8 inch thick. Sprinkle over the cheese on the bottom of the casserole 1 little green onion (top and bulb), finely minced and 1 tablespoon of chopped parsley. Now drop in 6 eggs, being careful not to break the yolks, and distributing the eggs evenly over the bottom of the casserole. Add salt and freshly ground pepper to taste, 1 cup of cream, and and 1/2 cup dry American white wine.
Place in 300 degree oven and cook for 10-15 minutes.
You’d think it would be easier to do the raw thing in the summer, but it’s not. For a beginner like me even going 60% raw requires spending a LOT more time in the kitchen and as most Minnesotans know, when summer is here we do not want to spend it indoors (except for on the really hot days when we need to huddle around the window air conditioning unit).

Anticipating fall and a little temperature drop, I’m gearing up for a major detox cleanse. Fall is perfect because it’s often cool enough that you can store some of your veggies in the basement or a mudroom (the fridge can fill up fast when you’re juicing a head of romaine every day), but it's not so cold that you're shivering all day craving the things that you are used to warming you up like coffee, hot meals and alcohol.

Due to popular demand (my one fan, Julie Colby), I’m going to TRY to start blogging on daily basis again, so here we go.

Today...

64 ounces of Minneapolis tap

32 ounces Green Juice with romaine, kale from Nia’s Wisconsin garden, ginger, lemon and Stevia made in the Blendtec with a cup of water and strained through a nut milk bag

Big huge salad with baby greens, cucumbers from my backyard garden, dill from Nia’s Wisonsin garden and homemade godess dressing

Turkey Sandwich on Multi-Grain sliced bread with backyard lettuce and mayonnaise

Mixed Green Salad with olive oil and spirulina with raw pumpkin and hemp seeds

Quinoa shell pasta with tuna, smoked gouda, swiss chard (from Nia), snow peas and garlic

½ cup of Chocolate Chunk Ice Cream

Getting back into detox mode, I’m not paying super close to food combinations even though I think this is the most critical part of cleansing. I’ll get there in a couple of weeks but for now I’m just trying to get back juicing on a daily basis. I've been on a sugar bender and I can't seem to stop. I guess maybe admitting that I've been going sugar crazy is the first step. My bender has even taken me to the depths of soy and peanut products as well. Sugar is evil, bad for us and addictive...especially in the processed forms that we typically consume it in.
